The kids call me dad

God know I try my best

I am always there for them

As they put me to the test

I love them so dearly

And that's why I am sad

For I know the real true

 I am just their step-dad

All the love I show them

Will be forgotten someday

The day they grow up

Leave and move away

Entering into their own  world

And starting their own life

They will settle down one day

As they become husband and wife

They will have little ones

But they won't bring by

And the reason I tell you

Just wants to make you cry

For I am just a step-dad

That makes it real apparent

For the little ones will go

To see their real grandparents
